When I think of Galashiels, I think of the river. I have always been drawn to water and may one day live by the sea...My house backs on to the river (Gala Water) and I follow it on my way to work. I sometimes think of all the mills that were once here and benefitted from the water for industrial purposes...I don't notice the noise anymore but visitors comment on it. It's lovely to have the windows open in the summertime.
